The Massachusetts Correctional Institution, Framingham, houses females sentenced to imprisonment, awaiting trial, or committed by the courts for alcohol or substance abuse treatment (MGLA c 125, s 16; c 123, s 35). Under the supervision of the superintendent, the deputy superintendent for programs and treatment is responsible for overseeing and developing policies concerning inmate services and treatments. Departmental policy directives (submitted by the superintendent to the Dept. of Correction for approval) are created to establish and update policies and procedures that govern inmate and employee actions within the facility.
